This story is Kevin Smith’s latest venture into the world of comics. There is no question that he is a great writer so as would be expected the story and the dialogue are great. That is his strength, but I don’t know if Batman is the best title for him to be writing. Kevin Smith has a very light style of writing that is clever and humorous, but is that Batman? The world of Batman is such a dark world, even the joker who is crazy and a clown is still dark and creepy. Kevin’s old friend Walt Flanagan does that art and is surprisingly good. I didn’t know he had it in him. I will say that I love the character of Onamonapia. It is just a funny concept poking fun at the one aspect of comics that will always remain. It is old and kind of cheesy but the vrooms and blams and pows will always be a part of comics. It is still a good story and I am going to read it because I’m a huge Kevin Smith fan and the story itself is good. I believe that this will go down as a great comic adventure, but not a great Batman story.
